While not the largest state, Ohio is still large and it seems that depending upon where you were born and lived most your life, some say we buckeyes have various accents or use words not spoken by many or just weird or goofy words, so I was wondering if you've been told you had an accent and if so the twang it is or if you use words some might think is unusual for Ohio and such.

Born and rasied in Dayton, I always thought I had the most un-accented talk there is. My mother was born not far from here and my dad is from southwestern kentucky but really didn't have much of a draw, but as I get older I find others saying I have a southern draw, and somewhere along the lines I've started using some words that make even those from the south say huh?

I say things like, putnear, fixin, juzbout. I don't think anything of them but others get a chuckle.

I think you have a southern drawl for sure.

When I first moved up here, I got teased so much about my southern "twang" that I started hiding it. But sometimes, if I get real excited in a conversation or real upset about something-or-another, I'll get to yackin' 50 mph and forget about it. Then the poor person on the other end will say "hey you DO have a southern accent'!

First time I said "dadgummit", my friend Ron near 'bout fell out of his chair. :urkidding:
