ok... first post here ~ followed the link in peggy's sig line from another site. First off kudos to the admins for starting up a board like this. A year ago my boyfriend at the time and myself had tried to start something similar but we had more involved in it besides just a message board. The site's no longer up and running and he skipped the country... running from collectors ~ including myself... from what I've heard he's living in Canada and seeing a married woman with 4 or 5 kids... But that's all in the past for me... within the past year I met a wonderful man and recently got married. The world couldn't be any better. We live in North Central ohio at the moment. My id comes from my husbands cb handle.. he goes by Rebel Cowboy... and I'm his sweetheart or he sometimes affectionately calls me his Sweet tater lol we have a 1 yr old miniture poodle - who thinks he rules the house... and then RC has a 15 yr old daughter that lives in SC. Who I hope to get to know much better in time. He doesn't have visiting rights or such and the situation is not a good one with her mom. We hope that when she turns 18 that we'll be able to get in touch with her or her with us.
RC is in Truck Driving school. He used to drive about 14 or 15 yrs ago but had lost his cdls. He's getting them back now and ready to make the big bucks. I currently work part time for a local mail-order company. What is really nice about it is it's a seasonal job... that last till mid January - then I could go on the road w/RC if I choose to. I hope to start a small business of my own on the side... I'm an artsy/crafty person ~ I do everything from cross stitch {patterns already made up and then design my own as well} ceramics, and jewelry.
Most of my free time is spent with RC - we like spending time outdoors, camping, travel, going to the zoo, spending time with family, watching NASCAR - he's a junior fan and I root for Harvick, Wrestling, we like watching shows like Trick my Truck, OCC, Hard shine, Miami ink, la ink... we love animals - especially dogs & horses.
well.. that's about all I can think of right now... but looking forward to meeting lots of other ohioians. My husband is a transplanted okie by way of SC and AL.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me...:D

thx Peggy & Kent... it's a real nice place ya got going here.
I was wondering... if there might be a place to have a craft corner... a place for those to talk about arts/crafts - share ideas or even to post local ohio art and craft shows... there are several big ones...
we have one coming up this weekend at Rolling Acres off Rt 42 in Delaware and then in late September we have the Prairie Peddler up at Mohician State Park... I can post the links to both. Then, we still have some fairs and such going on like the tomato fest. at Reynoldsburg ~ they are having a civil war re-enactment on Saturday Sept 8. and then here in Delaware - we have the all horse parade on Sunday Sept. 9th at 3pm & the Delaware County Fair is scheduled for Sept 15th thru the 22nd.

For now, you could post about the one coming up, in News & Events. Eventually I do want to open a new section called Let's Get Creative, where we'll have a arts 'n' crafts section, a photography section, a graphics section, etc.

ohhh talked to hubby while I was at lunch today and not good.. he's all bent out of shape and I can't blame him... they've made promises to him about him havin several job offers before he's out of school and he did have a prehire from the one truckin company that he really wanted to go with but some guy that he talked to down at the home office for roadmaster not the usually rep he deals with... I guess he ran his mouth or something and now they say they won't talk to him about hiring until he has at least 6 months under his belt... then the career placement person at the school here in columbus had hooked him up with a local small company that was gonna work out great... well... everything was fine till today. they had a guy come in that had several years of driving under his belt that had recently been laid off from another job... so the owner of the company said to hire him instead of my hubby....
he met with a counselor this afternoon and explained the situation.. and this is what just burns both of us... there are 2 men in his class one from the UK and one from somolia... neither have had their license for 6 months and both of them have gotten job offers. and neither of them are carrying grades like my hubby... he feels like he's gettin the run around and because he's from the south and talks with an accent that they're treating him like some stupid hillbilly and then he gets on about his native american heritage.... and of course he's using language that is.. ummm well... you know... So I get the brunt of this when I just got down dealing with my school issue... which I know if I want to pursue the medical billing I'm gonna have to scrap together the money for the software and training etc.. and do it myself. So that'll be a ways down the road right now.... so needless to say... I've been trying to keep his spirits up... the one good thing he told the counselor he met with this afternoon is... he's finishing school and getting his CDL's.... he just wants them to keep their part of the bargain.
It just frustrating ... we've both been through hell and back... and this was a huge windfall for us... a chance to really make something for ourselves... it still is. We have a lot of goals that we want to achieve.... we are starting to see that bright light at the end of tunnel... lol and NOooooo it ain't no train... lol

so the somalian and the UK'er have gotten job offers, and he hasn't, even tho he has the better grades and - that just smacks of discrimination to me.
I'll be sayin' a prayer that this all works out.

ok things were better last night... I guess the recruiters along with their director and the manager of career services down at the Home office in Tampa Bay are having a Big PowWow over my hubby this am.... and the one recruiter that I've talked to off and on said he'd be calling him at 11am with good news....
I'm really hoping that they get him on with one of these big companies....
oh and hubby came home yesterday after he had gotten out his truck ~ done practicing off set backing... One of the guys who is due to graduate tomorrow and prehired by swift trucking... pulled into Roadmaster after having training out on the road and I guess he sideswipped one of the training trucks... Hmmmmm looks like someone won't be graduating just yet and spending possibly another week in school. The truck he sideswiped had the somalian in it. Hubby said it didn't look like there was any "major" damage done to either truck. He's just glad he wasn't in the truck when it happened. lol

I just don't know what to do... I'm so frustrated ... I'm trying so hard to keep his spirits up and be supportful... but it's getting really hard. Because there's nothing I can do to make it better... Shoot... I can't even get career services where I went to school to keep their end of the bargain...

Well, most know that my hubby ~ Alan ~ finally got a job before graduating... He had his orientation Sunday and yesterday we spent picking up his rig and getting it washed.... Which his boss paid for.. do you know they charged $41 to just powerwash the rig... I'm thinking I'm in the wrong line of business... lol
But, anyway...I've been cryin... happy/missin tears....*sighs* he got a call from his boss late last night he sent him out at 2am for a short haul load ~ down around the OH/WV state line. He's supposed to have the load there by 8am... He called me at 5:30 am and they still haven't gotten him loaded. He said knowning his luck.... just as soon as he get this load down... they'll be ready with his long haul load to Ft. Worth.
