NetFlix is a movie subscription service, where you can sign up, create a "catalog" of your movie interests, then they mail you 2 movies at a time, you watch them, send 'em back, then upon receipt, they send you two more, all from your catalog of movies. You pay only one monthly fee.
Does anyone else use this service? If so, do you like it?
If you've used it before, but have cancelled, why?
I haven't tried that service but I did try Blockbusters version and can say one thing ..... NEVER AGAIN!!
They offered a free month so I gave it a try and all seemed okay but after the trial I cancelled it because my viewing habits didn't justify the cost. All their movies were back and all was done, or so I thought.
Five weeks later I get a notice from the bank that one of my accounts was overdrawn. This account if kept for goofing off reasons so sometimes the balence is low unless I plan of doing something, so when it said I was $183 over I about went nuts, and it was from movie charges from Blockbuster. Each day they also slapped on a fee it was over, so it was adding up fast. Calls were made fast and after talking to the idiots at blockbuster they first said the movies were never returned, then they were but late, then not late but not checked in, then to they were checked in but not returned to the warehouse in texas.
If it were my screwup I'd of fixed it but as it wasn't, I had to deal with my bank, their call centers and 10 days later they had to pay my fees which ended up being almost $250!!
Seems according to them that when I returned them, that an employee did something, call it theft or being lazy, but their program flopped and it wasn't fun dealing with the BS it caused.

Yikes I can agree with that!
I signed up with NetFlix and have been pretty satisfied with them, so far. Problem is, I don't have time to watch the movies! I thought this would be a convenience, and it is, if you're a frequent movie-watcher. I'm not. I have too much else to do. I thought it would be great to have a couple of movies to watch when my son is at his dads for the weekend. BAH! That's when I get my best work done online, so I don't have time for them then either, lol.
I think I'm going to cancel the service, and go back to hitting the movie store when I really do want to watch a movie.

I did the netflix last year for about 6 months we were on the program where you got 3 movies at a time. It worked really good for us... they have a wide selection of movies as well as tv/HBO series too... I was hooked on one called Carnival - it was really interesting. the reason we don't have it now is... money got a bit tight... but that's getting ready to change... so I've been tossing the idea around again... they also have a program where you can download 2 movies to your computer as well as receive them in the mail....
there's another website... I can't think of the name of it right now... but i'll research it and get back to you where it's all download

I found that site that I was trying to think of... it's vongo.com
for $9.99 a month you can download an unlimited amount of movies to up to 3 pcs and you can view them as often as you want ~ as long as vongo owns the rights to the movie. They also have a PPV for those movies that are just getting ready to come out of the movie theatre before going to DVD and they also have a direct link to the starz channel.
there's also a way to hook the pc up to your tv and your able to run vongo through the remote of your television. I'm seriously gonna check this out in a couple weeks when money isn't as tight for us... I really get tired of going in blockbuster and hearing their spiehl {sp?} I'm not a very patient person sometimes... just want my movie with no hassel.

I love Netflix. :) Tons of movie options and you can get stuff in just a few days. They have a HUGE range of plans. I'm on the bargain-basement plan that gets me 2 movies a month for $5 and change.

y'know I might change to that bargain basement plan, as opposed to cancelling the service altogether. Thanks for mentioning that.

I used netflix for a little while and stopped. I found out that I didn't rent movies enough. LOL We just started renting them again so we might have to join back up. I will have to make sure to look at the bargain basement plan. That sounds about all I need.
