View Full Version : Speak Up!
I didn't write what follows but I damn well wish I had and though I didn't it say's just what I feel and how I feel. Is it politically correct? I don't care!
"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?
Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't. I don't care at all.
I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.
I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.
I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.
I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.
I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.
In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.
When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care.
And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it - I don't care !!
If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends, post here on myspace, post it everywhere. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior!
If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country!
One last thought for the day:
In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: "A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in ... And how many want out."

Very good post, there is but one problem, in Osamas' mind (NOT STICKING UP 4 HIM) he has NOTHING to repent for, he helped rid the world of 3,000 infidels. This is the part that the media has, and continues to hide. In Osamas' small pea-brain, the only good infidel, (infidel meaning ANY non-muslim) is a dead one. They are of the mindset that allah ak-bahr, (allah is greater) not God is great, like the news wants to tell you, but that allah (which I refuse to capitalize) is greater than the Jews' God, or the Christians' Jesus., or the Buddhists' Buddha. When this first happened,(9-11) all the networks said, we need to remember this day, and hold it close...now ya got Mrs. Clinton, and Mr. Obama, ( a trained moslem) saying we need to close Git-Mo due to the travesties(????), and move on from this FALSE fight we are in?!?!?!?! These reprobates are what America wants to elect to the highest office in the free world!!!
Sam
It's sure as hell not what this person wants elected and if by some screwed up chance one is, then I feel that sadly, America and the USA is all but finished. People better wake the hell up and stop bending over and taking it up the ass and stand for what our forefathers went through hell for.

O.K. Peggy, you're right, we will get along fine! It is a shame that as Americans, more of the public, does not try to tune into the situation, they will just sit back and let Katie Couric, (or another member of the media) tell them what they want to hear, "We are at risk of being attacked, because we are fighting an unjust war" don't mention that we HAVEN'T had an attack on American soil since we took the fight to them!!! The majority of citizens feel safer now that we are in the war, but the politicians alter what is being said by their own constituency. Do you feel safer now than you did sept. 12,2001 answer- yes. Do you feel safer now than you did, Sep. 10, 2001, answer, no, we didn't think we would ever be attacked like that. Conclusion, Americans feel NO safer now than they did around September 11th! Wording, semantics, they make it all fit any use they see fit. Oh, and by the way, John Kerry used this, I didn't make it up, and it is being used by Hillary and Obama.

I can relate to that, when her husband held office, I called him billary! I knew he wasn't pulling the strings...( I won't even go there)...but he was a puppet 4 sure. Hey, did you all see who is backing a Clinton-Obama ticket??? None other than Fidel Castro!!! Why hasn't the media mentioned that??? I mean if my MAIN supporter and cheerleader was Fidel, I'd want to keep it quiet too, but they think he is quite the man, and I ( of course) don't! But it is a fact, he is the REAL last non-oriental communist in charge...we will let that sink in a minute...(Russia,Germany,Baltics,Slovak)...WOW!!! Scary how this jumps out at you isn't it? I do want a side note though, Peggy, thank you for telling me about this site, if my religical (religious-political) rants are too much, please let me know...it won't make me stop, but please let me know!!! LOL Want to be sure, I am letting the general public, as well as some in-tune politicos, know what's up!

Personally I can't stand her. I'd be OH so tempted to move to - say - AUSTRALIA - if she is elected.
I guess I should start off by saying what follows are my feelings and thoughts and not that of talkohio.
What in the hell is my country coming too?
Tonight as I sat here in my home, in my state of Ohio which is in my country, that being the United States of America, where we speak English and I pay my bills with American Money and was watching ABC, which unless they changed names I thought stands for the American Broadcast Company, I sat there as a commercial came on that was completely Spanish! I speak English, not Spanish, or French, of Yiddish, or whatever language of other nations, I speak, read and hear in English!
Now call me a hick but as far as I know my Dad only spoke English, his Dad spoke English, my great-grandfather spoke it and so on, and somewhere back when my family left their nation of birth to come to America from Ireland and Wales, they learned to speck this nations language of English and somehow I don’t think they cried and bitched and moaned or tried to force their new nation to speak what they left. So why am I subjected to having to listen to some other language in my own country? I could learn Spanish, but I have no plans on visiting any county that has that as their language so it’s not required. Now if I were to do that, or say I wanted to leave Ohio and America and move to a Spanish speaking country then that would be my responsibility to learn their way of communicating, or am I wrong?
This has gotten out of hand and it’s just time the bullshit stops! This is North America, this is the United States! We speak English here, we are taught to read it, write it and type it. If I want to learn another language that’s great, but the basics is English, so ABC and others, use it!

I have to agree with you on this.
When I lived in Florida and was working as a traveling photographer for Wal-Mart portrait studios, I traveled the state and took pics in Wally's that didn't have a built-in studio like most do now.
Down in southern Florida, most of the population is now hispanic, has been for years. So I go in, set up the studio, and in walks a spanish-speaking family for portraits.
The dad: "Ah Mi, yo speaky espanol??".
Me: "No sir, I don't. Don't you speak english?"
Dad shakes his head and looks at the mother in confusion. Obviously they don't. He looks at me again and says "No espanol"?? I said, "Nope, I'm American, I don't speak spanish".
He didn't understand me but a passerby did and gave me a dirty look. She walked over (she was spanish) and said "Lady, if you're going to do this job, and work with so many different kinds of people, then you damn well should learn their language!".
I looked and HER and said,
"Ma'am, this is the USA of America. OUR language is english. If people want to come from other countries to live in mine, THEY should damn well learn to speak this country's language".
Almost got fired for that. But it's what I believe, and I'd say it again, if the need arose.

I feel exactly the same way... This is American we speak "ENGLISH" here. What really burns me is when I got out somewhere doesn't matter where and you hear... people from India, Somali, Mexico... etc... speaking in their native language... Makes me want to go up to them... ask.. you live here???? and when you hear the answer yes... then is when I want to say then speak English ... of course I'd probably emblish it with some bad/naughty words ... but shoot it really makes me mad... It also stems into religion and then the pledge of ledgence {sp?} not being said in school anymore....
Grrrrrrrr:mad: I come from a military family and I do support our Military heartfully. We are a country that was founded on freedom of religion and here we find ourselves now being some what perscuted {sp?} for it... With these foreigns coming in and they want to change our language and religion to theirs... that is not what American is....
More and more I think we'd be better off shutting down all our borders and not letting anyone in..... to live here anymore.
Ok.. off my soapbox.. and y'all this is just my opinion too...and sometimes... I think I'm just one of many who just blend in and it seems nothing we say counts........

Altho there's one thing I have to say. I don't mind people coming here to live & work. BUT, this legal "alien" crap has got to stop. They should be made to become a citizen, made to learn english, made to pay taxes. Don't want to do that? Go home.

The strange thing about all this is,the religion they profess says they should try to be at peace with one another.

:mad:you go Kent I'm with you.
This language thing is way bigger then it needs to be. Personally I don't care if someone wants to speak in some other language among themselves here, but I do when it's clear they use that ability to talk and poke fun at others.
I do mind that so many seem to be willing to let them make it a issue that we have to even think about making English a national law. I do mind that I now have to hit 1 or whatever to hear a damn machine speak it or not and I do mind that if I get a government check or material it also has some other language, currently thats spanish but will it soon include others?
I see it as respect. If I were to move to mexico, france, germany or wherever, I would want to learn their language and not disrespect them and their heritage and if I were there to work of live for a short amount of time again I'd want to. How absurd is it to think that I would go in and demand they learn my language? That's not just silly, that's stupid.
I'm going to start a new thread that goes along with what's been said so far, but I want to dedicate it to the more intense things that might and a damn good chance will cause some to dislike me, dislike themselves or just flat out get pissed, I just hope that anger is directed towards the real one(s) at falut and not anyone here in our great nation other than the ones I or whoever else makes a post feels deserve it.
How many haven't heard this old joke by George Carlin, and over recent years how many of these have left the hushed lips of so many and are becoming a part of daily conversations? Is it right? Hell I don't know, but it's a fact that more and more of what used to be considered curse words that if you were a kid would earn an ass whipping and if an adult would get you labeled as trash is now a part of daily radio, tv and more.
So is this an issue, or is it an issue only when we make it one? If it important enough to have our high courts involved in it or should it be a local thing?
I got this from the news this morning ..........
The Supreme Court on Monday stepped into a legal fight over the use of curse words on the airwaves, the high court's first major case on broadcast indecency in 30 years.
The case concerns a Federal Communications Commission policy that allows for fines against broadcasters for so-called "fleeting expletives," one-time uses of the F-word or its close cousins.
Fox Broadcasting Co., along with ABC, CBS and NBC, challenged the new policy after the commission said broadcasts of entertainment awards shows in 2002 and 2003 were indecent because of profanity uttered by Bono, Cher and Nicole Richie.
A federal appeals court said the new policy was invalid and could violate the First Amendment.
No fines were issued in the incidents, but the FCC could impose fines for future violations of the policy.
The case before the court technically involves only two airings on Fox of the "Billboard Music Awards" in which celebrities' expletives were broadcast over the airwaves.
FCC Chairman Kevin Martin said Monday that he was pleased with the court's decision.
"The Commission, Congress and most importantly parents understand that protecting our children is our greatest responsibility," he said in a prepared statement. "I continue to believe we have an obligation then to enforce laws restricting indecent language on television and radio when children are in the audience."
Fox Broadcasting Co. was also pleased. The decision will "give us the opportunity to argue that the FCC's expanded enforcement of the indecency law is unconstitutional in today's diverse media marketplace where parents have access to a variety of tools to monitor their children's television viewing," company spokesman Scott Grogin said in a prepared statement.
So how do you see it? Do we let them make the choice for us, or are we adults enough to make our own mind up on what is worth the effort or not. If the courts are so damn worried about what my child hears, let them do something about the daily gun shots they hear and how so many criminals that kill, rape and harm others get a smack on the hands and never serve a day in prison. Let them deal with the banks and lending institutions that commit criminal and moral rape on us and get us so far in debt before we realize we were trapped in a hopeless loan and then lose everything we have.
Lets get them fighting the good fight, the right fight, not pissing and moaning of a few damn words that don't mean shit to me and I doubt a lot of others.
Opps, I think I used a few of those words
The case will be argued in the fall.
Peggy
03-18-2008, 01:39 PM
Personally speaking, I have to disagree. I wish the courts could go back in time, and ban curse words from the airwaves. They're unnecessary. I remember when you could watch comedy shows and comedians who didn't use this trash language, and have a good time! The likes of Bill Cosby, Red Skelton, Jerry Lewis, Milton Berle, Lucille Ball, Tim Conway, and hundreds of others. Did they need to curse to be funny? NO, and I miss them.
This is one of the very reasons that I watch very little TV anymore. Cursing has become a way of life for far too many. They can't talk without f*** in every other sentence. Even I have used that word far too much (even once is too much for me), and once it was brought to my attention, I quit. I realized that I had become de-sensitized, and lost site of my basic personal values.
The fact that I can't watch TV or listen to the radio hardly at all without hearing crap, ticks me off.
Pick our battles? Sure. But why should we quit fighting for our basic moral rights in exchange?
If people want to hear/speak f***/s***/m*****f*****, etc etc... that's fine, that's your right. But to inundate our airwaves with it, is ridiculous.

okay, now to play devils advocate some ............
Isn't a lot of these things something we either have to or need to deal with to make the world or our lives more enjoyable?
Granted, smoke bothers some and as a smoker I personally try and not smoke around those that suffer this or that, but if they make a big deal of it jsut to do so then not so much.
Perfumes! I've almost been sent into, no, I have suffered respiratory distress bu some of the scents people wear, notice I included all people, but a lot of women wear some that really bothers me but perfume is for the most part an enjoyable vice.
Cars, the poisons they put out is a long list, but do we really think it's better to walk more than a short distance?
So no, none of these have a thing to do with the first post, but some language is there just for the shock value and even to me that's stupid and not needed, but I don't think going back to the 50's where seemingly married people have to sleep in separate beds or even rooms and words like golly gee and wow is the norm either.

Being I have a Fragrance Allergy (allergic to anything that has a smells good) (gives me severe migraines) I get ticked at some women who pile on the perfume and walk past me in the store. Granted they have no idea what they are doing to me, but I can still get mad when I get a instant migraine and it takes me weeks to get rid of. Can you imagine going through life not being able to smell flowers or anything like that. At least I make for a cheap date. :p

Bikers rally in Berkeley to support military
I received this article from a buddy and thought that with god news not being spread like the BS that is, that y'all might like to see some positive events that are taking place.
Elizabeth Fernandez, Chronicle Staff Writer
Sunday, June 22, 2008
As a "built in the womb" Marine who was born and raised on military bases, Robert Duke was hell-bent on attending a bikers' rally in Berkeley on Saturday outside the Marine Corps recruiting station that has been the focus of a municipal dustup for months.
"We're here to support the troops," said the 49-year-old Brentwood man who works as a pipe fitter and welder.
Often under siege during anti-war demonstrations, the Shattuck Avenue recruiting station was the focal point Saturday for scores of leather-clad, burly bikers - some of them smoking cigars or licking Popsicles amid the heat of the day - who said they wanted to patronize nearby businesses that support the troops. A similar rally was held in March at the same spot by about 400 bikers.
"There are many people who are silent - we've decided not to be silent," said Jim Hampton, 64, an Oakland resident who spent 26 years in the Marine Reserve. Like many other bikers at the rally, Hampton's choice of vehicles was a "made in America, man" Harley-Davidson.
"People have a right to protest, but we don't want everyone to think that there is only one point of view," he said.
In late January, a city proclamation generated international headlines by labeling the recruiting station an "unwelcome" intruder, marking Berkeley as the only city in the country calling for the ouster of a military recruiting center within its borders. Code Pink, an anti-war organization, has held regular demonstrations at the spot since October.
In a peaceful but vocal face-off that stretched from mid-morning Saturday until early afternoon, dozens of bikers occupied one side of Shattuck while anti-war protesters filled the opposite sidewalk. While numerous bikers toted large American flags, their ideological opponents carried banners with slogans such as, "Mass murder and torture: not a career option."
The bikers "are here to intimidate Berkeley for its anti-war stance," said David Santos, 15, an Oakland resident who said he is opposed to the Bush administration's Iraq policies.
Bertha Johnson of Berkeley reminisced about her brother, a veteran who returned from Vietnam with significant mental health issues. "I'm here to support my fellow peace-loving protesters," she said.
The bikers gathered early Saturday at a staging spot in Emeryville, then roared into Berkeley in waves of 60 at a time.
"They wanted to come in stages so they could negotiate parking and not clog traffic," said Sgt. Mary Kusmiss, a spokeswoman for the Berkeley Police Department. "Our experience is that the organizers have been very open about sharing their plans and their intent and have asked for feedback from the police."
She estimated the total number of rally-goers at about 250.
No arrests were made, but one member of World Can't Wait, an organization that seeks President Bush's ouster, was briefly detained by police for using an electric bullhorn - his organization had not obtained a city permit allowing amplified sound.
"There was a lot of verbal energy," said Kusmiss.
In one brief vocal flareup, an anti-war demonstrator muttered at a group of bikers, "Why don't you go to war?"
"I did 20 years so you can say what you're saying," replied Jim Dunn, 45, of Monterey, who served for two decades as a Navy hospital corpsman. He belongs to the American Legion Riders, a national organization of motorcycle enthusiasts that supports the military and raises funds for veterans' homes and children's hospitals. He attended the rally with his girlfriend, Karen Sakais, a retired water quality inspector.
"This country is based on freedom," she said. "I recognize and respect everyone's right to protest. I'm here to support our troops - they are our sons and our daughters."

wow, thanks for posting that.
Why? Why are we Americans, and for all that matters, why is anyone that’s allies with America paying over $100 a barrel for crude? And that translates to over $4.00 a gallon for most. Why?
Why? Why are we paying other nations billions, hell, trillions of our dollars for this crude? Why?
Why? Why are we bowing down and kissing the asses of those that would delight in seeing our Nation fall such huge prices and allowing those that would kill us all if they could, to come to our land and then bow to their demands to what we know as the American Way? Why?
Why? Because they have the oil and we don’t anymore?
Well, kiss my red, white and blue ass, we do have it, and more!
They (our own government) told us years ago that American well were dried up. They told us that only offshore wells had oil and that extracting that crude was costly, and that we had to get the crude from foreign lands, some of those being enemies. The current government has continued this line of lies and now, a little known area of the good ‘ol USA, well not so little, but rather a huge region covering 3 large states, it’s been known for decades actually, but a few years back, the known 200 to 300 billon barrels of hard to get oil has become less hard to extract. That’s as of now with the latest reports from various private and government agencies, at least 503 BILLION barrels of usable oil!
The oil field is known as the bakken, and it covers almost all of North Dakota, and a lot of South Dakota and Montana and even goes up into parts of Canada.
Yes, there is a lot of debating, a lot of rumors, one of which says that George W. Bush has tried to erase it from the books, but to many know, yet not enough know a damn thing. There is a lot of information to be found and read so I won’t get into all that, but the one thing that almost all groups agree on is this, when first discovered the crude was hard to extract if not impossible and it did cost a lot to even try, so getting it wasn’t the smart thing to do, but with recent improvements and technology, it is now cost effective and a lot easier to extract, so cheep to get that the cost per barrel would be around $16 a barrel, not $100, not even $50, but $16 a barrel! As of today, that is enough oil to run America alone for the next 41 years, but, not so fast. It will run dry sooner or later, plus why use material such as oil for energy when this latest bunch of bullcrap has shown and made us think smarter.
So let’s continue on this path or green, but let’s wake the hell up and make a few demands and regain our balls America.
Let’s demand that those that have known about this oil and have kept it quiet be criminally charged and thrown in jail for a long time.
Let’s demand and force those in politics that have remained quiet, hide the facts and or worked with others to help keep our dependency on foreign oil going, that they too be put in jail for years to come and remove their government benefits as well.
Let us make it known, that no more will we let them do as they please without fear of review by all and not just the few, and that if they brake our trust that jail awaits them.
When are we going to stop bending over and taking it up the rump and say, it’s to big to deal with and I can’t do anything about it.
All together now, and you ladies, go ahead and do this too ……
Everyone stand up. Okay, now reach down between your legs and find those balls.
Got’em? Great, now surround them with your fingers, lightly grasp and stand up while you hold that head high and tell these leaders “Hey, I found my balls and your ass is out the door!”
Now, was that so hard?
Dear Mr. President Elect Barack Hussein Obama,
So you got yourself elected to the high office of President, the leader of the free world, the leader of free men, the melting pot of the world, that was founded and built on the blood sweat and tears of millions. Millions that left their land of birth in hopes of finding real freedom, real value to their life and the life of their families. In untold amounts many of these people left the traditions and teachings of their homeland and adopted those of The United States of America.
They accepted and took as their own, new names at times, new spellings and new meanings of those that had a history behind their names, because this was America and they wanted to be Americans.
Let’s look at this issue, your name. You were born Barry, not Barack. You took on a name that not only before would have raised concern, but with the terrorist attacks around the world and that of September 11, 2001, one would think that in and out of respect, out of calming any fears, that you would revert back to your name of birth. But no, you rub it in the face of true Americans and seemingly don’t care that just the name has caused so much unneeded fear, anxiety, hate and trouble. To say you care is little more than a joke, another lie told by a rookie politician.
You wife, on record for not only saying racist remarks, but a published author of the same, and all the time here of late you spread the banter of the need for change, the need to finally end the racism of the past, but what will you do now Sir? Tell your wife to shut her mouth? Tell her to bring her thinking into the new era? Or will you allow her to pour forth the putrid words, feeling and emotions of what some of us life through before you were even born? Was this too just another lie to build upon? Seems so doesn’t it.
And as leader of the nation, you stand for the laws of the land, an example for others. So how will you be doing that as a self admitted user of illegal drugs? That got pushed under the table didn’t it? Your new dear friend, President Bill Clinton was racked over the coals and trashed around like a fifty cent hooker for admitting he smoked marijuana once, but while that is still illegal, it’s something grown by mother nature in raw form and not chemicals and a derivative that must be cooked to make a drug that will alter ones mind.
I won’t say you are directly, but those around you, your family, friends, former co-workers and others are proclaiming you the first Black President, yet, and correct me if I’m mistaken, are you not 50% white? Are you ashamed of that part of you? And why didn’t you set the recod straight and tell them, I’m not black I’m not white, I’m mulatto!
Wikipedia defines it as: Mulatto is a term used to describe a person with one white parent and one black parent, or a person whose ancestry is a mixture of black and white.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as: the generation offspring of a black person and a white person,: person of mixed white and black ancestors.
Does this mean what it seems to, that you yourself are encouraging racism? I sure hope not.
So what now? How are you going to live up to your own hype? How, as you clearly must know, in office with no real history, knowledge, contacts and experience, handle leading this nation? I hope any concerns I might have are proven wrong. I hope you bring the troops home and I hope we can see a fast and safe development of non-oil based fuels. I also hope that you use the troops to patrol and secure our borders and quickly and with as little cost as possible, toss those wishing to enter the USA illegally back where they came from. There is a means in place, let them use it. Use those troops to seek out, confine and ship away the terrorist cells embedded in our land. Return the United State back to the American people, and not sell it off like a whore to others.
One thing is for sure, if you fail us, the people, if you turn your back on us or you allow those that would do us harm to freely do their deeds, you can be assured that you, and you alone, will have set your proclaimed Black race, back in untold years.
And one more thing, this is America. It’s not African this or Irish that. It’s not French that or Mexican whatever, it’s America and we are Americans. Want to do something to end the stupidity? By example and mandates, stop the use of other nations being thrown in with America. I can remember, I can celebrate and honor the land of which my family came from, but they left those lands, for America. I’m an American, and it’s just that plain and simple.
