Spc. Edward L. Brooks, 25, of Dayton , died Aug. 29 in Ramadi, Iraq of wounds sustained from a improvised explosive device.

His wake is today just down the street from me. Another soldier injured in the same attack is from Springfield. I hope that in the years to come his loss and the others wounds were worth something for the good and not muddied over politics.
