The Ohio State Reformatory which operated from 1886 through 1990 is listed as a "must do" event to tour for not just history buffs but mostly for those hunting ghost.
There have been four major motion picture films filmed there including "The Shawshannk Redemption" and "Air Force One". The current and very popular show "Ghosthunters" have visited and came up with some odd events that can't be easily explained away.
With it's 19th century architecture, this is a forboding place that just makes your skin begin to craw as soon as you pull near the front. I know this as a fact as I've been there a number of times, not hunting ghost, but rather delivering convicts there when it still served as one of Ohio's Prisons before it's closing, and I can assure you that if hunting ghost or odd things is of interest to you, then you will be in for a surprise.
I won't put a label on myself but I seem to have an ability to sense things now and then and not once did I enter the bowels of this prison and not feel that things weren't right, but each must be their own judge.
Mansfield as we called in in the DR&C, is now allowing tours for those wishing to hunt ghost, and the 2008 season is filling fast so make plans now if you want to do this event. They offer overnight tours both with or without guides or weekend day visits.

Tours start promptly at 8:00 pm and last approximately two hours. Admission is per person. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children (ages 12–17).
The building contains hazards including, but not limited to: steep steps, uneven surfaces and lead-based paint.
It is not recommended for pregnant women.
