Howdy all,
I just signed up here and wanted to give everyone a shout.. I run a website for a World Of Warcraft guild I'm in.. I'm also in the IT field and ran across an ad about TalkOhio on a vbulletin website. I figured since I'm in Virginia, we are pretty much neighbors so what the heck. :D Hopefully I'll get a chance to chat with some if not many of you while I'm here.
Well, due to the lack of anything else geeky to say.. LOL I'll excuse myself and go check out the rest of the site.
Take care all and be safe!
Cheers,
Jim

I'm back! :) Thought I would stop in and see how things are going. I've submitted my site to different directories and signed up with a few web rings but haven't gotten any traffic yet. :(
I got a call yesterday about a possible PHP job opportunity and I mentioned my website to them in case they wanted to check it out. I saw the hiring manager decided to check my site after all. :D I haven't heard anything from him yet though.
Anyway, I've got the arcade and horoscopes installed on TalkVirginia. :) I've been trying to get Flashchat integrated too. It's installed and working but for some reason it shows up on the page as a 404 error inside of the IFrame.
Other than that, I've been playing a lot of EVE-Online which is a MMORPG in the Space/Trading theme.
That's about it for now. I'll check in later and see what's going on. :)
Jim :wave4:

Heya Jim! I was there yesterday, it's looking good.
I've thought about putting TalkOhio on a few Ohio webrings, checked them out last night. I may do that sometime this weekend.
Some tings to consider -
Visit vBulletin-FAQ and go through all of the SEO tips that Joey has laid out.
Be sure that you have the link to your site in your sig at all forums that you visit.
If you're a member at MySpace, push it there.
Get family and friends to join and post.
By ALL means, install the vBSEO Google/yahoo sitemap generator, if you haven't already. It's available at vb.org. I swear by it, have it on all of my sites, and always convince my clients to install it. IMO, it's invaluable. ;)

Thanks for the tips! :) I may not be able to do the sitemap thing until I move my site. Right now I have it set up in a folder under my main site. I'm just using htaccess file commands to hide the subdomain and redirect it to talkvirginia.net.
