Peggy,

Are you allowing visitors to subscribe to your homepage/blog? if so, and they do, is there a link between that userbase and the VB database? Basically, will they be registered regardless which one they sign up with first?

Oh I found that bridge on vb.org, but it's only for vb 3.6.8 :(

I'm sooo torn... I need to get some books on wordpress.

Anyway... hehe I was just wondering.

I installed the bridge last night after talking to Kent about it. No go.
And the coder said he's not upgrading it til 3.7 goes "gold", so we can forget it til then.

He, whoever he is, needs to be ready for that and the rest should get off their arses and get it done. I know a few sites are waiting for it to get out of beta and want to upgrade asap, and I'd think there are a ton more.

What are your plans for handling two different user bases? I may just wait on doing the wordpress thing till the vb developer has an update available. The only thing is that I really like the way wordpress generates pages. I wish I had more knowledge on making vb templates, not to mention web graphics. :(

Yep I'm one of those people that's waiting and wants to upgrade. I'm also looking forward to VB 4.0 :) lol but I'm sure that is a ways off.

The blog is actually just a front door to the forum. An info page, if you will. I don't care if people don't register there. I want them to register here, at the forum. THIS is where the real action needs to be.

Maybe I should look before typing this, but .......

If there is a separate register area of the blog verses here, the main forum, that needs disabled pronto and a button link or word link to the section we do want them registered placed on it. I sent out a mass mail today and if any of them come to sign up and then I have to ask them to sign up again, I can assure you most won't.

If it's simple and easy, ok that's the same, but anyway, if it gets bothersome most people won't return, that's just the way it is.

yep I agree and will disable it.

I see.. One of the reasons I mentioned that is because I wasn't sure if members/visitors needed to be registered if you are expecting comments to the posts on the front page.

Kent and I just talked about that. I turned off the comments and registration on the blog. The posts we have there either by myself or Kent are just "teasers" and are linked back to the actual post here on the forum.

I also just edited our intro there as well, adding links to the registration page here, as well as linking an image that Kent just made and added.

When the bridge is updated, adding that will make all of this unnecessary, I hope.

Nice! Good deal :) I'm still on the edge with VBadvanced and wordpress. :Sigh:

vBAdvanced is ok for something simple, just to put newest posts on the front page, or put up some info and leave it.

But if you want to add fresh content to it daily or even weekly, then Wordpress is the way to go. As i said, teaser posts that can be easily linked to the forum is a good draw. Many are discovering this.
