I don't love it as much as I love my family, but it's up there. I am in love with Unix and Unix like operating systems.

I've written my own version of Linux AND my own version of BSD. It's a labor of love. I don't ever get tired of it.

Why exactly do you like UNIX vs Windows?

I do want to point out that I have no problem with Windows. Each OS (well, almost each, most of them anyways) have their strengths and weaknesses. Each OS you can name to me has its place in the world.

I just love Unix and Unix like OSs more than Windows. My wife is the opposite of me, she will not get rid of Windows unless you have a gun to her head. She runs Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and I gotta say that I kind of like it too. She just needs more RAM, is all.

Why do I love Unix(like)? Security, stability, code reuse, ease of programming, lack of malware, and it's pretty. The same can be said of many other OSs. The clincher is that I have a vested interest in making Unix(like) succeed. I'm on the development team for two different Linux distros and I have code in the FreeBSD kernel.

It's a lifestyle I have chosen to embrace, the FOSS movement. If you read the book "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" by Eric S Raymond you'll understand the kind of thing I have with Linux and BSD.

I also want to mention that I love OS X to death but since I cannot legally afford to put an OS X machine into production in my house I have to make do with a Hackintosh and not tell anyone about it.

Interesting. I must admit that I don't understand half of what you said, but it's interesting nonetheless

Same here, I love to hear programmers talk even though I have no idea what they are saying. :)
