Disco and I have three kids in the house.
Raven is our youngest. She's 6 and will be starting first grade in the fall. The school has decided to rather than skip a grade with her, they'll put her in the Visions program. Visions is a Talented And Gifted type of thing.
Alex is 12. He's into reading and video games, like every 12 year old boy is supposed to be. He's got an excelled reading level in school. His reading score is 194 when the average is 100.
Tyler is the oldest at 17, almost 18. He is training to fight in the UFC... or was, until he got into a FREAK running accident. I can't post the pics here as this is a family site but let's just say that while running he almost tore his entire shin off to the ankle.

zerhacke, you can post just about any type of pic here except nudity/porn. Other than that, if it's graphic (bloody/gory) just post a warning with it. No problem.
Thanks for telling us a bit about your kids. I think I posted about mine, but if not, I will this week sometime.

I am a rent a mom. My kids rented me until they were 18 and then did not renew their contract. Stopped talking to me after the contract ran out.
My daughter is 27 ( 28 in Sept) and works for Aetna insurance and my son is 24 ( 25 in Dec ) and works as a printer for the local paper.
I am so glad I learned how to do background checks. ;) That way I can keep tabs on them at least.

That's sad Raven, but unfortunately, I do know how you feel. My daughter informed me a couple of months ago that she wants nothing whatsoever to do with me, ever again. She just had a baby of her own, and won't let me see her.
She and I have a painful history, and to a point, I don't blame her. But I try to keep tabs on her too.

I'll post it when I get a good FTP client on my Mac computer (the one I use) and copy it to one of my servers.

Do not scroll down if you do not want to see a graphic injury. You are warned... those with low constitutions may want to get out of this thread immediately.
Here's Tyler's wound.

Yep, a running accident. He slipped on wet grass and caught just below his knee on a piece of broken sidewalk.
Hard to imagine one can hurt yourself that badly while running...

Yes it is. How long ago was this? Is he recuping still?

He did it July 1 and is still recuperating. He's had at least two doctor's visits a week for it since it happened. Right now, the slice going down his leg is almost totally healed, it's healed to the point that he doesn't need a bandage on it.
However...
The part just below his knee going horizontal has proven to be a real pain. He's had necrotic (dead) flesh taken off every time he has gone to the hospital. He's looking at skin grafts if it does not clear up soon.

ouch!!! poor kid.
Why in the world would they even consider putting him through the added pain and discomfort of skin graphs?
Before anyone gets in a tizzy let me explain that question.
At times I feel like a raggedy andy doll. I was a klutz as a kid and by the time I was 15 , I'd injured myself so many times that I had over 200 sutures , and then I guess I didn't learn because by age 25 I got another 87 along the way.
One injury almost resulted in my losing my left leg below the knee. The flesh and muscle was beyond dead. It went into being an open tumor.
The resulting hole was about the size of a baseball and daily at home and three times a week at the doctors, they would massage my leg from my hip down, and usually when they got to my knee, it was like pulling noodles, the dead flesh and blood clots would begin to ooze out the hole which was right above the ankle on the chin.
Once they got the infection which had gone into the bone under control and said my leg was saved, I was told the hole would have to heal on its own from the inside out. The doctor cut away the sides of this hole to expose good, or living flesh and skin and whatever, and I kept going to see him three times weekly for ultra violet light treatments which I guess facilitated healing, but the bottom line was I didn't lose a leg and I didn't have to have skin graphs.
My Doctor was a DO and an IHL Team Doctor, and at that time I had been recruited my the parent organization which would put me on a NHL team by the age of 19, so maybe they were more aggressive than normal, but either way they got me healed. And with advancements in medicine since then I can't get a handle on why they'd put him through an additional round of pain and add another flesh wound and the pain it's going to bring.
Wounds do heal from the inside out, takes more time, but they heal.

I am sorry to hear about your kids and you also. I have no idea what is in kids heads today and at times I just try and block it so it don't drive me nutz. I am crazy enough as it is.
