If you think of a topic that we don't have here, please feel free to tell us about it in this section!
Do you have ideas for ways we can improve this site? Let us know!
We want TalkOhio to be THE #1 social/talk site, for our state, on the internet!

Just a thought but you might get some teens and others if you have some gaming topics such as XBOX 360, Halo, Warcraft, etc. Maybe even some computer/programming related technical subject matter.

Not a problem :) You're welcome
psssttttt, Peggy, I think Jim just volunteered to do that tech corner we've talked about ;)
Jim, we had an area dedicated for teens and even younger kids, and it just didn't work at the moment. Not to say it won't and I wish it did. Maybe with notices going out to a larger group and if someone were to take charge of it, then it might take off again.
One thing I brought up and Peggy and I agreed on, was to try and make :TO: a site where the whole family could visit and find things to do and have a site that they all had something in common with.

 hehe I'd do it, but I have two sites I'm doing all the work on now. I'm building TalkVirginia.net as we speak, and I've got my World of Warcraft/Knights Vindication guild site (http://www.kv-guild.net). Then I spend 50% to 75% of the other half of my life playing the game. :D I wouldn't mind doing something for that forum as time permits.

Sounds good.. That's what I've had planned for my Virginia site too.. even when I had it up as NOVA-Connect.com. As I mentioned to Peggy, I may get some dating site software and throw it up on that domain. :) I've also been trying to get a Classifieds section going as well.
So much work to do when having fun :)

One thing you have to be careful about, is don't put too much on the site at first. It's overwhelming to new members to see sooo much going on, but nobody doing it. I know this from years of experience with forums.
Keep the categories few but interesting, the forums few but relative to their category, and get friends & family to post post post.
When the needs arises for a classifieds section, then add it. When the need arises for a youth section, then add it. When the need arises for a singles/dating section, then add it. Otherwise, start with only what will be likely to draw, and keep, attention.

Thank you for the advice! :) Everything you said makes sense. Btw, I got a couple new styles for the TalkVirginia site that I'm workin the kinks out of. :) That and I need a nice header. I looked a few of the "Talk" boards and each one looks like they have similar forum topics. Was this planned or what? :) I have a new topic I'm thinking of adding to my site that should be interesting, but I'm not telling ya.. hehe you will have to come by for a visit when it's up.

I'll be there!
Nope the similarity in topics wasn't planned. But due to the nature of the sites, it's not surprising that they'd be similar. I'm looking forward to you getting your site up and going.

Oh ok. Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking regarding the similarity.
As far as TalkVirginia goes, I decided to install the VBadvanced frontend for now and with the new styles it looks pretty good... IMHO. :) I'm having a bit of trouble doing a header logo though - graphic-wise. Trying to learn photoshop. :(

We started with vBAdvanced, but it just didn't give me the look I wanted. The blog is OH so much better.
